CAROL BENSON-COBB

About the Work

Some of my earliest creative memories are of making mud sculptures with the garden hose at about five years of age. By the time I was in high school I was painting rock star portraits for classmates. As my techniques evolved, so did my awareness of what inspired me to put paint to a canvas. I eventually immersed myself into the vast horizons and canyon views of the Southwest. Those organic landscapes and soothing color fields became my muse. I found a creative freedom in the looseness of abstract painting, a way to express an emotion and movement rather than clearly defining a specific scene. My intention has always been to create a subtle suggestion, a perspective that allows the viewer to make their own connections to the art.
