About the Work
Some of my earliest creative memories are of making mud sculptures with the garden hose at about five years of age. By the time I was in high school, I had been painting rock star portraits for classmates. As my techniques evolved, so did my awareness of what inspired me to put paint on a canvas. I eventually immersed myself in the vast horizons and canyon views of the Southwest. Those organic landscapes and soothing color fields became my muse. I found creative freedom in the looseness of abstract painting, a way to express emotion and movement rather than clearly defining a specific scene. My intention has always been to create a subtle suggestion, a perspective that allows the viewer to make their own connections to the art.
For many years, I have held back from selling my originals, keeping them as a safeguard to maintain the integrity of my reproductions. Having access to the art and the ability to re-rescan paintings as technology evolved was a big priority. Over the past few years, we have been scanning with the best technology I will most likely see in my lifetime, giving the original work a new purpose and platform.
